Feeding the Planet - Energy for Life is the motto of Milan Expo 2015, with which the Lombard city won the competition with other cities involved in the event. The arguments can be summarized in even fewer words: Sustainable Growth.
growth, because if you do not produce wealth there will always be hungry, but this growth should not come at the expense of those who have not, already impoverished countries resource-poor, to enrich those already rich and it is here that sustainability should not only environmental but also social, with the fair and ethically acceptable.
The economic crisis has perhaps not yet over, but its consequences are more serious than even you might believe. This is not to be pessimistic. The recovery will be, but it will be slow and will take place on different principles from those that have fueled economic growth in the last fifty years. Today the world is moving extremely rapidly and we always have more resources and technologies to get better.

Cosa sarebbe accaduto se quelle plastiche fossero state riutilizzate? Avremmo certamente ridotto il fenomeno dell’80%. La plastica è una materia prima ricavata dal petrolio che ha la caratteristica di durare molto, molto a lungo e di accumularsi, distruggendo la vita di acque, terreni, ambienti urbani e umani in generale.
Affrontiamo il discorso dell’economicità. Una ditta che si occupa del recupero dei materiali plastici viene pagata per farlo. Se si pensa che tale materiale diventa o può diventare la materia prima per altri oggetti, ci rendiamo conto che potremmo avere a disposizione della materia a costo virtualmente zero, se non meno di zero.
Questo è solo un aspetto, ma offre già una prospettiva diversa da quella del “costo ambientale”. Siamo in presenza di un vero “affare ambientale” e, a poco a poco, alcuni stanno cominciando ad accorgersene. Il vero problema non è rendersene conto, ma rendersene conto in un numero sufficiente per poter mutare l’orientamento culturale.
Quindi parallelamente all’applicazione dei principi nell’attività economica, occorre diffondere la “cultura del riutilizzo” attraverso la comunicazione. Il problema è che la comunicazione di massa è di massa, appunto. In altre parole segue l’opinione comune, non la precede. During the interview, my partner told me that the only one of newspapers and magazines that you might be interested in this work was the Natural Theatre, whose name is certainly consistent with the principles. Yet there has been talk of Mr. Pet, una delle società del gruppo, per intenderci, quella che ha ideato il raccoglitore di bottiglie di plastica con una tessera che da diritto a dei vantaggi al consumatore. Se ne è parlato a “Striscia la Notizia”, una delle trasmissioni più seguite della TV, ma l’argomento non sembra raccogliere un enorme e visibile interesse.
Il Dr Bergia mi accoglie nei suoi uffici di Racconigi nella Provincia di Cuneo. L’atmosfera è molto informale e rilassata. Ci accomodiamo in una saletta accanto a quella delle quattro impiegate, raccolte in una sorta di tavolo senza spigoli, rivolte verso il centro.
Si vedono sorrisi ed espressioni aperte ovunque. E’ un piacere muoversi in questo spazio in cui sono si presenti delle porte, ma sono sempre aperte. Lo spazio dell’intervista è molto singolare. Sediamo su poltrone non comuni: la mia è ricavata da un bidone di petrolio, quella del mio interlocutore è costruita con le doghe di un ‘barrique’, la botte d’invecchiamento del vino per eccellenza, molto popolare in questi ultimi anni.
